The Pennypinchers Timbercity Rooiberg Eco Ride to be held on the 14 April 2012 is a one-day MTB race in the pristine Waterberg nature area, Limpopo. It is the second race of the Pennypinchers Timbercity 2012 MTB Series. The start and finish, as well as the event village will be based at Jakkalsdans Hotel in Rooiberg. Bring the whole family for a fun-filled week-end in the bush. There are a number of lodges, camping sites and other accommodation available in the area. Rooiberg is a mere 35km away from Mabula, Mabalingwe Nature Reserve and Zebula Golf Resort.

We offer 3 distances to cater from novice and social riders to serious mountain bikers. Race distances are 20, 45 and 70km respectively. The area around Rooiberg will be used, but mostly the Welgedacht Estate and Elandsberg Nature Reserve.

The 20km route is 100% ride-able, mainly jeep-tracks with rolling hills and beautiful grasslands, mostly inside the Elandsberg Nature Reserve.

The 45km route is a bit tougher than the 20km route with difficult terrain, jeep-tracks, some great single-tracks, river crossings, tough climbs, awesome downhills and lovely bushveld views and surroundings. The route is mainly using the Welgedacht Estate within the Elandsberg Nature Reserve area with most of the riding in the grassland area, with some of the route venturing into the more mountainous parts.

The 70km route is tough but rewarding. The route includes lots of interesting jeep-tracks, single-track, river crossings, wooden bridges, but beware, the climbs are steep and the terrain is tough. Riders will however be rewarded for their pain and suffering with the exhilarating scenery, downhills, single-track and ambience of the area. A must-do for any serious mountain biker !!!
